Falls are one of the leading causes of death in the oil and gas industry, but can be prevented by using fall protection, safe work practices, and personal protective equipment. Fall protection systems can include passive protection, such as hole covers and guardrails and active fall protection, such as personal fall arrest systems.
The specific fall protection you use will depend on your workplace, your work duties and their hazards. When learners have completed this course, they should be able to recognize fall hazards on working surfaces and on stairs, ladders, and scaffolds. They should also be able to identify safe work practices and proper personal protective equipment, or PPE.
This training addresses OSHA's Fall Protection regulations for General Industry. The rules are different for construction work. If you are performing any construction activity, including major repairs or renovations, you will need additional training.
