According to OSHA, each emergency responder level must take an 8-hour annual refresher course to stay current on the techniques used in a hazardous materials incident.

This Emergency Responder Technician Level III Annual Refresher Online course helps to meet OSHA requirements in an informative and interactive manner. Included in the 8-Hour online course are numerous techniques used in keeping the responder safe while containing and mitigating a hazardous materials spill.
To fully comply with OSHA standards, students must review their company Emergency Response Plan as a part of their annual refresher training. Before the student is allowed access to the final exam, they must attest to having reviewed a current copy of their ERP (Emergency Response Plan).
A level 3 Emergency can be identified by:
- Class 2 poisonous gasses, Class 1 explosives, organic peroxide, flammable solid, materials dangerous when wet, chlorine, fluorine, anhydrous ammonia, and radioactive materials or NFPA 3 and 4 special hazards, PCBs & fire, DOT inhalation hazard, and EPA extremely hazardous substances
- Large container sizes Examples: Tank cars/trucks, hopper cars/trucks, and stationary tanks, and the container integrity is damaged to the extent that rupture is possible
- A Level 3 emergency has a high risk of explosions or fire.
- Leaks may not be able to be contained even with special resources.
- Includes a large area with a large evacuation.
- Environmental impact is severe, with a level 3 emergency.
Who needs Emergency Response Level 3 Refresher Training?
Anyone who has already received the initial Emergency Response Level 3 Certification must take the refresher course annually to keep the training up to date and compliant.
