The Semiconductor Process Chemical Safety course is intended to provide you with specific information about chemical hazards in semiconductors and related operations and provide them with additional knowledge about engineering, administrative, and personal protective equipment controls.
Our training course meets training requirements under OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard 29 CFR 1910.1200 and chemical safety information covered under the OSHA Laboratory Safety Standard 29 CFR 1910.1450, and is compliant with OSHA!
Semiconductor Chemical Safety Training Part 1 is the first part of a two-part training course.
OSHA Chemical Safety For Semiconductors
The OSHA definition of a chemical is any chemical which is a physical hazard or health hazard. OSHA requires that all workers that are exposed or potentially exposed to chemicals have to get Chemical Safety Training, including the production of semiconductors.
Students taking this course will learn the proper techniques and procedures to safely handle chemicals, including personal protective equipment, safe handling & use, proper use of safety data sheets, and much more!
Chemical hazards include; irritation, sensitization, carcinogenicity, flammability, corrosion, and explosions! Chemical Safety Training will teach students about these hazards and give them techniques to avoid them to stay safe.
The OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) was designed to create a uniform way to communicate hazards from start to end user, including Safety Data Sheets and proper labeling of hazards.
The Hazard Communication Standard requires employers to:
- Evaluate the hazards of the chemicals that they produce or import
- Prepare labels and safety data sheets to convey information to downstream people
- Provide safety data sheets and labels for any worker that is exposed to the chemicals
- Train workers how to properly handle the chemicals; training must include information about the chemicals used in the workplace and how to protect themselves from exposure
The OSHA Laboratory Safety Standard was created to address workplaces where relatively small amounts of hazardous chemicals are used on a non-production basis.Under the OSHA Laboratory Safety standard, employers must:
- Designate a Hygiene Officer
- Have a written chemical hygiene plan that must include:
- Training for employees potentially exposed to chemicals
- Chemical exposure monitoring
- Medical help if exposure occurs
- Personal protective equipment needed
- Engineering controls
