Description

Hydrogen Sulfide is one of the leading causes of workplace inhalation deaths in The United States!

Our training course meets training requirements under OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910. 119, OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1200, and ANSI/ASSE Z390.1-2010, and is compliant with OSHA and The American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

H2S Training

Due to a large number of documented fatalities among workers and rescuers, along with ANSI, we have identified a clear need for specialized training to address the occupational hazards of Hydrogen Sulfide.

Our Hydrogen Sulfide Awareness Training was developed to provide students a comprehensive overview of hydrogen sulfide safety and its effects in the workplace. Increasing your awareness of the occurrence of natural and industrial hydrogen sulfide hazards will better equip you to deal with H2S hazards in the workplace.

Our online course features narrations, module quizzes, multiple student interactions, advanced bookmarking, streaming audio, live instructor chat, and a course glossary that is jam-packed with information to help employees protect themselves from the hazards of Hydrogen Sulfide exposure.

Once registered, students have a full 90 days to complete the online curricula (extensions are available, just call prior to expiration); this gives students the added benefit of training at their leisure with no specific start and stop times.

Free Hydrogen Sulfide Comply Check!

As a bonus, after registration, you will receive a downloadable copy of Comply-Check: Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) at no charge. Comply-Check is a learning and job aid for the real world. It features key topics, important facts on H2S, action items, and course terms explanations.

HYDROGEN SULFIDE SAFETY AWARENESS CERTIFICATION: Upon completion, you will receive a Completion Certificate suitable for framing (not a black & white downloaded copy) and a wallet ID card for verification at worksites that require Awareness-level ANSI certification.

The training also provides certification under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1200 “ Hazard Communications. This comprehensive course covers BOTH standards.

RE-TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: Per ANSI/ASSE Z390.1-2010, Section 6.2: Due to the extreme hazards involved in H2S operations, each individual covered by this standard should be trained annually.

TECHNOLOGY NOTE: This online course is best suited for students with newer computers AND reliably fast internet connection speeds (cable, DSL, or T-1 speed or better). The use of wireless cards for training is not recommended. Please click on System Requirements below for details.

H2S

Hydrogen Sulfide or H2S is a colorless gas known for its rotten egg smell. It is also extremely flammable and toxic to people. Exposure to H2S gas can cause headaches, eye irritation, unconsciousness, and even death! Hydrogen sulfide occurs naturally and can also be human-made, and exposure to this hazard has a very high mortality rate.

A higher risk of exposure to hydrogen sulfide exists in many major industries, including:

  • Oil and Gas Processing & Refining
  • Mining
  • Rayon manufacturing
  • Agriculture
  • Manufacturing
  • Oil and Gas Exploration
  • Tanning
  • Pulp and Paper Processing
  • General Industry

Workers at a higher risk of exposure to hydrogen sulfide include:

  • Oil and natural gas workers who extract or refine crude oil and natural gas
  • Wastewater and sanitation workers who clean or maintain sewers or septic tanks
  • Farmworkers who clean manure storage tanks or work in manure pits. Hydrogen sulfide gas also occurs naturally in manure, sewers, well water, oil & gas wells, and volcanoes.

Who needs Hydrogen Sulfide Safety Awareness Training?

Any employees exposed to or potentially exposed to hydrogen sulfide while on the job or anyone who works with or around H2S gas will need this training course!
