Description
Hot work is any work that produces fire or sparks, including welding, flame cutting, soldering, and brazing. Welding and other forms of hot work can pose a serious health hazard to workers, but training, safe practices and hazard controls can help workers keep themselves safe. This training should help employees identify types of hot work and their hazards, and identify employee roles and responsibilities for hot work. Employees will also receive information about hazards specific to hot work, additional hazards associated with hot work, and hazard controls for performing hot work. This training is provided to assist the employer in meeting the requirements of OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.252, General Requirements and 254, Arc Welding and Cutting. This training is intended for employees who perform hot work, including welding, brazing and torch cutting, as part of their regular work duties. In addition to this course, the employer might also provide courses on Compressed Gas Safety, Fire Safety and Portable Fire Extinguishers. While this course addresses OSHA training requirements, there may be a site-specific training component required that must be fulfilled by an employer. This training is available in English and Spanish.
