Description

Employees who are required to wear a respirator in the workplace must have their respirator fit-tested (one "initial" test and at least annually thereafter) to be in compliance with 29 CFR 1910.134. We offer qualitative fit testing for employees attending HAZWOPER training, for a small additional fee. 

Employees must complete all OSHA prerequisites before they can be fit-tested, including:

  • Employee review of the company's written respiratory protection plan
  • Recent training on the Proper Care and Use of Respirators and;
  • A recent (within 30 days) Medical Clearance to wear respirators at work

Participants must provide: The respirator they will use at work, two (2) organic vapor cartridges, proof of a current respirator medical clearance, and completed respirator training. If you have facial hair, you must be clean-shaven the day you are fit tested. Finally, if you use multiple respirators at work (i.e. Full-Face and Half Face) make sure to purchase a fit test for EACH respirator you are having fit-tested. A separate test (and fee) is needed. Finally, ensure your Medical Clearance indicates ALL respirators you are having tested and use at work.
