This interactive, online course provides first-time students with the training and knowledge required under EPA regulations. Students who pass the course and exam will receive Certification for Hazardous Waste Management training as defined under 40 CFR 262.17; 264.16 & 265.17. Participants will learn and understand the definitions of a hazardous waste, labeling requirements, satellite accumulation areas, disposal facilities along with real life examples and multiple interactive exercises to familiarize students with the processes of hazardous waste management/generator requirements, transportation, disposal, UST’s and much more!
Who needs Hazardous Waste Management Training?
- Employees, managers, supervisors, compliance officers, waste handlers, corporate legal staff or anyone who is responsible for facility compliance with EPA/RCRA hazardous waste regulations.
- Staff who are responsible for onboarding facility workers at TSDF’s (Transportation, Storage and Disposal Facilities) or, have employees/contractors under their charge who are not trained.
- Management or corporate personnel who interpret regulations and/or have the responsibility to create or approve procedures.
When should training be completed?
EPA provides employers a grace period that allows new employees to work, provided they are supervised by a properly trained individual before 6-month anniversary. Thereafter, employees must receive annual refresher training to remain current.
This course meets EPA training requirements for initial and refresher training. Additional training is required for employees working at TSDF's such as: Emergency Response under OSHA's HAZWOPER Training 1910.120, and DOT's Hazardous Materials Training under 49 CFR 100-185. For questions regarding such training and certification, please contact an Education Coordinator at 800-711-2706 Ext 1.
