Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) Course, students will:

  • Understand the reason for the change to a Global Harmonized System.
  • Know how to implement the required changes at the facility.
  • Determine the appropriate labeling used on containers of hazardous materials under GHS.
  • Determine what signal words, pictograms, hazard statements, and hazard codes will be necessary for their facility.
  • Understand the alternative labeling systems that are approved for employers.
  • Apply the new standards for developing the newly required 16-section Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Apply the new requirements for training all personnel on new labels, pictograms, hazard statements, hazard codes, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Clearly understand the deadlines for the implementation of the new HCS.
