About Confined Space Entry

In this course, you’ll learn how OSHA's new confined space regulations affect construction workers and the pitfalls surrounding the proper designation of workplaces. Including how the type of work conducted determines which regulations (general industry or construction) OSHA will use and how that affects the worker and employer, including multi-employer worksites, how employers manage these sites, and what training employees have for entering confined spaces on Multi-Employer sites.

To comply with federal regulations, OSHA requires employers and employees to be knowledgeable in all aspects of worker health and safety before and during a confined space entry. These regulations apply to workers in the construction industry (as defined by OSHA and ANSI/ASSE standards).

OSHA’s ability to widen the enforcement to include federal regulations and national standards (related to the type of site your employees work on) can have a demonstrable effect on your risk management approach, especially when they are not widely understood.

We designed this informative, self-paced training to allow participants the opportunity to gain knowledge and comprehension regarding confined space safe entry while providing a thorough understanding of government regulations and how to follow the appropriate recognized, safe industry practices.

CERTIFICATION: Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a Certificate of Completion (suitable for framing) under Confined Space Entry for Construction & General Industry - as per 29 CFR 1910.146 29 CFR 1926.1207 NFPA350 & ANSI Z117 plus a wallet identification card.

Employers are responsible for providing follow-up training specific to each site's hazards before entry, including health hazards, PPE, and other risks you may encounter at worksites that fall within the scope of the employer’s operations. Confined Space Entry Training teaches students how to identify a permit or non-permit required confined space, proper PPE to use, and how to enter or rescue someone in a confined space.

Does Confined Space Entry Training require refresher training?

Per OSHA, After the training, employers must ensure that the employees have acquired the understanding, knowledge, and skills necessary to perform their duties safely. Additional training is required when: the job duties change; A change occurs in the permit space program, or the permit space operation presents any new hazard; an employee’s job performance shows deficiencies.

What is a confined space entry permit?

A confined space entry permit is filled out by the EHS supervisor and evaluates the space, including the hazards involved and hazardous materials present.

Who needs Confined Space Training?

Employees who perform construction work in or around confined spaces or provide direct support to those who enter confined spaces. Students who are also getting Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Training like HAZWOPER, Hydrogen Sulfide Awareness, and Emergency Response will also benefit from this course.

What is the difference between a non-permit required confined space and a permit-required confined space?

A non-permit confined space is a confined space that doesn’t have hazards that can cause serious harm or death. A permit-required space will have hazards that can cause serious harm or death!

Can I take Confined Space Entry Training Online?

According to OSHA, Confined Space Entry Training can be completed using only online training as long as it covers requirements under OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1207, 29 CFR 1910.146, and ANSI/ASSE Z117.1-209.
