Who Needs DOT HAZMAT Transportation Training?
Anyone involved in selecting a package, marking a container, applying a label, preparing paperwork (e.g., Bills of Lading, Manifests), packing a shipment, or taking part in any part of the transportation or handling of hazardous materials are required to receive DOT Hazmat Transportation training.
How do I get my HAZMAT Transportation Certification?
The first step in becoming a HAZMAT certified driver is to get your Class A CDL. After you get a class A CDL the next step is acquiring your HAZMAT endorsement.
To do that, you need to complete an application that requires the following:
• ID proof of being at least 21-years-old
• Proof of citizenship or legal residence
• A medical exam and eye exam
You must pass a HAZMAT knowledge test. This includes getting your HAZMAT Transportation Training before you can perform any shipments.
How often do I need DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation Training?
After the initial training, you will be required to get refresher training every three years or when regulations significantly change to remain compliant.
